“The priest is a gift from the Heart of Christ: a gift for the Church and for the world.” ~ Pope Benedict XVI at the close of the Year for Priests
Born and raised in Omaha, Monsignor Peter F. Dunne was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Omaha in 1944. In his first assignment as a new priest, he was sent to Boystown where he spent his first four years as a priest with the legendary founder of Boystown, Msgr. Edward J. Flanagan. Msgr. Dunne went on from Boystown to serve in a number of parishes in the Archdiocese until his retirement in 1989.
A gifted preacher throughout his active ministry, Msgr. Dunne remained active in retirement, giving workshops, directing retreats, traveling with groups, and keeping a busy appointment schedule. He was involved with numerous apostolates throughout his priesthood and tirelessly promoted devotion to the Eucharist and the Blessed Virgin Mary everywhere he went. He became the founding father of KVSS Catholic Radio at the age of 80.
Presently, at the age of 92, Msgr. Dunne continues to offer daily Mass and help wherever he can. Passionately in love with the Lord and with the Sacred Priesthood of Jesus Christ, he is an inspiration to all who know him. The prayers and meditations you will find here come out of the heart of his almost 67 years of ministry.
Please keep Msgr. Dunne and all the beautiful priests who have grown old in the service of the Lord and his Church in your prayers.
